Julia Wilson

Julia trained at Chelsea College of Art & Design and Wimbledon School of Art, and has been exhibiting her paintings since 1993.

Of her work she says:

"Colour is central to my work…the effect it has on the space , the imagination and the senses. The paintings are not abstract, in the formal sense, but are drawn from a visual experience.

My starting point is a familiar estuary and coastal landscape, or closer to home, my studio surroundings.

The paintings evolve from a process of working and reworking the canvas …finding forms to recreate the
initial visual experience , until tension and balance are achieved"
